The EDGE enables fast and reliable transmission of studies to multiple destinations and retrieval of worklists, with built-in flexibility and security.
The Edge device provides the state of the art image transmission and remote access for mobile, relocatable and hybrid imaging and screening units.
It is designed to enable fast deployment and monitoring of mobile services, enabling diagnostic imaging in challenging locations, thereby expanding mobile outreach and ensuring availability of clinical services regardless of geography. It provides ultra-fast data transfer and imaging workflows consistent with working within the department, whilst at the same time improving communication for mobile imaging teams.
Connectivity is provided through 4G, 5G or optional Starlink integration, together with full loss-less compression and encryption technologies, in order to provide fast and efficient transfer of images and worklists, and can enable access to clinical applications at remote locations. The Edge is based hardened Unix operating system for maximum reliability and security, thereby maintaining uninterrupted scanning and reducing workflow disruptions.
Multiple destinations and worklists based on highly-configurable rules can be supported, and worklists are cached so that the Edge can continue to function uninterrupted even in case of mobile signal loss. Destinations are configured through a central Portal and are synchronized to every unit so that any unit can be used at any location. The Edge will automatically select the correct configuration based on its GPS location, and no modality engineer is necessary to set up the scanner when the location changes.
The device contains local storage allowing retention of studies on the mobile itself, for up to 90 days + with configurable policies directly from the central Portal. This allows studies to be split, merged, corrected or resent, all without having to physically attend the unit. The Edge is fully integrated with the MedEikon Portal for management of all units from a single web-based portal. Studies can be centrally re-pushed, corrected where necessary, and full statistical analysis and reporting is available.
